Oops. I've neglected the announcements category as a way of announcing new things. But I haven't been sleeping on the site! Here's a quick recap of what has happened since the last formal announcement:
- March 2024: Developers can now see some nifty statistics and charts for their games that aren't visible to normal users, while still respecting the privacy of players. Play time per day, retention, number of unique players, etc.
- April 2024: The April Fools' Day event, responsible for those "counter" and "countest" flairs you see everywhere! https://galaxy.click/counter
- May 2024: Galaxy turned 1! I wrote about it a bit on my blog. https://yhvr.me/blog/aftersome/
- July 2024: Massive rewrite of the admin panel + new channels on the Discord server for announcing game updates and releases
- October 2024: Proper support for underage (<13) users, forcing parental verification and hiding all social features
- December 2024: Galaxy rewind for both players and developers, making some neat aggregate statistics visible!
- Funny little thing: although you're not reaaally supposed to use them, the pages for these still exist, and will show your stats for 2025 so far: https://galaxy.click/rewind
- January 2025: Marking games as complete (developed by a member of the community!), revamped page for favorite / played games
While I've been adjusting to college and dealing with some big workloads, I've still moderated the site and tried to do little things where I can. Now that we're caught up, here's what's new.
SURVEY!!! TAKE MY SURVEY
It's not a "2 minute survey", but if you have 10-15 minutes I'd really love to have your feedback on some things! There's a lot that I've been thinking about recently but I don't want to take any drastic actions before I hear what the whole community thinks, rather than just the few people who take the time to have in-depth discussions about features in the Discord server.

notified tags
Along with your semi-annual reminder you can filter out games by tags using the settings page, we have some new goodies:
- You can set tags to "notify" you in the game's thumbnail, rather than hiding the game outright
- There is a new
gen-ai
tag for games that were made using generative AI assets - Not new, but a reminder that if a game is incorrectly tagged, you can report the game and specify in the report text what the issue is
future announcements
I'll try to make forum threads here for future announcements, even smaller changes.
I'll also be mirroring announcements to Bluesky at the handle @galaxy.click. https://bsky.app/profile/galaxy.click You can also follow this account on Mastodon at the handle @[email protected]

nerd stuff
tone shift! these changes are REALLY big and recent, but will probably only interest a few of you. i'm also going to be a little less formal here because this is my jam here >:]
galaxy as an oauth provider
embedded games and off-site services can now authenticate people using their galaxy accounts. this was a pretty big undertaking, and took a lot of learning and documentation writing! i'm so glad it's out now, and i can finally no longer think about scopes and tokens and all that crap. check out the docs at https://galaxy.click/docs/oauth
if you're a non-nerd reading the "nerd stuff" section, don't worry! none of your data is gonna be stolen or anything. the tl;dr is developers can now make those "Sign in with Google" buttons but with galaxy instead of google :D
iframe api tester
If you want to integrate a game with galaxy's APIs (for cloud saving or oauth) but haven't yet published the game, you can now fiddle around with our fancy pants IFRAME TESTER PAGE!!! i had to refactor the iframe message code into a typescript monstrosity but this long overdue page is here now :P https://galaxy.click/iframe-test
