Hello! Today we're rolling out Oversight, a system that has been in the works for a while to try and make the process by which games are accepted onto galaxy more transparent, and to enable community participation in said process. In the past when we don't think a game is of a high enough quality for galaxy, we reject it with a pretty vague message and I know that can feel pretty frustrating for the developers question. Oversight should allow devs to get high quality constructive feedback for lower/mid quality submissions, while still not denigrating developers who know what they're doing.
I don't want to repeat myself too much, so if you want more details you can check out the fancy page just for it, and read the attached handbook for a very transparent look at our (subject to change!!) policies: https://galaxy.click/oversight
Although we hope to lower the criteria substantially over the coming weeks, the current criteria to join Oversight are:
- Account level 25
- At least 3 comments with +3 score
- 2/3rds of your comments have a positive score
We're keeping them high during this initial launch since we don't have an accurate way to gauge user interest in this program. I'd rather start out with too few people than go straight to having 100 people actively participating in Oversight! That sounds absolutely hectic X_X
Also! In the past, games that have been submitted that used generative AI have had to write a disclosure explaining their use. This has only been available to site staff so far, but new submissions will have this visible to users as well :D
I hope to see you around! If you have any pressing issues, the best ways to reach me are the Discord server (see the "social" up top) or a site PM if you're a big anti-Discord person.
