comments for Theta Incremental
sort: go backwhen i ranked up i did not expect my manual click button to disappear LET ME CLICK DAMMIT
good game tho
developer response: The click button kind of breaks once automation gets added (limitation of how the game is built at the moment), but if I manage to fix that I will add it back since the click button becomes far less useful/overpowered later on.
Either that or I add minesweeper or something
I think I actually am a complete and total idiot. I played for probably a good fifteen minutes wondering when the new prestige currency of PLACEHOLDER would be introduced before I realized.
developer response: Truly one of the PLACEHOLDER moments of all time.
The Upgrades screen no longer updates when I upgrade anything. I have to click the Upgrades tab to refresh it and see how much I have of each upgrade, and how much the next level costs.
developer response: I'll try to fix that soon.
edit: fixed (I hope)
impossible to rank-up after 3, it throws an error
The game seems to be very broken right now.
Any bugs should be reported here: https://github.com/BanaCubed/Theta-Incremental/issues
Please don't post issues that are already posted
Generally it is best to paste in all errors that appear when playing the game to give as much info as possible (the console (F12) should help)
I would also appreciate help with fixing bugs for anyone with coding experience (primarily HTML and JavaScript but some Twine/Twee knowledge would help)
developer response: If you don't have a github account you can just DM me on galaxy with the bug info
Edit: Game is now on hiatus, as I'm currently more actively working on Create Incremental, but this game will get updated in future.
In the meantime feel free to try to get to Infinity theta
Well, this is a rather short game (i literally completed it in 5 minutes), but still, this game was fun, and I see big potential in it.
I have a question, though.
Do you use Twine for making this game or some other tool(s)?
developer response: I used Twine to make the game and I used the built-in story format SugarCube. Aside from that nothing else was used.
The prices and amounts of upgrades no longer display until the game is saved and reloaded in the newest update (they do still work correctly, they just don't show up)
developer response: I'm pretty sure that it's fixed now
I would like for an option to disable the screen going dark when you click on a tab, it makes me slightly nauseous
developer response: I didn't add that effect and I have no idea how to disable it. I will look into it to see if there is any way to disable it (I don't like it either).
Just got to the current endgame (placeholder theta) and went a little beyond since I bought some of the new upgrades. I really like this so far and hope you keep working on it. I'm blind, so I also love how accessible this is with screen readers. In my experience with playing a few Twine games, most of them tend to be accessible, so it's cool to see an incremental game written with Twine.
developer response: I'm not fully sure if the entirety of the game will work perfectly with screen readers since I don't know how they work. But it should be compatible since I don't see myself changing how the game renders things from Twine's default.
Although the scientific notation that I've implemented might not be perfect with screen readers (I'll fix it if it is a problem).
add random trigonometry questions every few minutes to refresh the players memory :trol:
I think the balancing is fine (also absolutely ready for the next update with 62 trillion theta/s)
so far this is looking really good! just needs more content 8/10
There's an error (at least for rank 0 -> rank 1) where if you have the rank area pinned and click rank up from the main screen, an error appears and the rank on the main screen stays at rank 0, even though on the rank page it says rank 1. The error has something to do with no rank reward widget being found
developer response: I can definitely fix that, it might take a day or two though.
I got an error reading (You have [number NaN] Θ (+ [number NaN]/s)) In place of actual numbers when buying upgrade 7 stopping all production.
developer response: I will look into it and (hopefully) fix it in the next update.
I'm getting a pop-up system error whenever I rank up.
"An error has occurred. You may be able to continue, but some parts may not work properly.
Error: <<rankup>>: errors within widget code (Error: <<replace>>: no elements matched the selector "#RankReward"; Error: <<replace>>: no elements matched the selector "#rankCore")."
Then when I rank up from Rank 2 to 3, a repeating red box error shows up below upgrade 1 pushing down the other upgrades to unreachable levels.
"Error: <<upgrades-rerender>>: errors within widget code (Error: <<replace>>: no elements matched the selector "#theta-upg-six"; Error: <<replace>>: no elements matched the selector "#theta-upg-seven")"
I am running the game in Firefox if that helps narrow anything down. Going to test in Chrome right now.
developer response: I'm trying to fix that right now (I might have to unlist the game)
maye rank 4 was the friends we made along the way
Please, work fast at Rank energy
Unless I missed it, needs a way to change notation. Hard to see if an upgrade is available.
developer response: There is currently no way to switch to any other notation unfortunately, and the built in scientific notation only starts at 1e21, which is way too late.
The next update will make some changes to the notation to make things more readable.
where do i get placeholder 0
developer response: That is the endgame
It's not a bad start. Rather short, though. Hopefully you've got more ideas on the way. I like the click button removed after the first rank, so autoclickers can't just zoom through the game.
developer response: The game is mostly me trying to figure out what is possible within the limitations of the tools used. I'll probably try to add a few more prestige layers in the future. I'm not fully sure how well balanced it'll be since I've never made an incremental game before.
Maybe I'll even add some actual interactive fiction since that is what the tools are actually made for.
