comments for BIOTOMATA
sort: go backMITOSIS
developer response: 2^n GANG LET'S GOOOOOOO
Finally finished the game with 100% completion. It has surprising depth and some really fun endings. Honestly, it might be the best game I've played this year so far.
developer response: That's awesome to hear, tysm for playing and even 100% completing the game!
I lost my entire save. I am back to agar culture with no levels or anything. Literally everything gone because i moved my autoclicker on something else and accidentally close the tab.
developer response: I'm sorry to hear that, I genuinely have no idea how that could happen :( If you don't mind save editing, you can change to quickly get back to where you are, since progression is mostly tied to levels. Many parts of the game can be automated using long-holding too (autocast moves and upgrading with biomatter)
[response to developer] I have all of the endings, and the I think the only new ones would be .
developer response: Ahh, no, unfortunately those aren't available endings. Congratulations on 100%-ing the game though, and thank you for playing!!
how is it possible to get 7.5B Intelligence when counts as ?
developer response: Ye, basically what Kitoo mentioned: . The upgrades will help too
I kinda hate how when you reach the , you don't get to choose which way you get the . It feels like you could have gotten more endings if you could choose. Maybe it's just me desperately wanting more content from this excellent game though.
developer response: Haha, that's fair, I'll take it as a compliment as you wanting more :P
holy moly.
this was out for what? less than a week and its already top rated.
this was a VERY good game.
developer response: Thank you! It's been out for a little haha, I'm glad people are enjoying it though!
@beppo_HD you need to dump everything in Codex and The Voyager and stay in human form (green) for the rest of the run.
developer response: Yeah :D And helps to push levels further
Amazing game! My favorite ending was the one, absolutely loved it!
developer response: Tysm! It's definitely a popular ending haha
I have just beaten the entire game with challenge mode. I checked at the end just how many sparks I missed out on by doing this and wow it's a lot. Enough to only care about what stats your evolution excels at when it comes to combat moves.
It's interesting, and each roadblock that isn't time-based feels satisfying to overcome. It also doesn't overstay its welcome, having taken me a relatively short amount of time to complete (for this site anyway lol). The end got a bit boring, but that was really just me achievement hunting because it wouldn't take that long to do. I genuinely spent more time deliberating if it's worth my time to get the monocellular evil ending than it took to complete it.
My only complaint is that the evil routes all feel the same story wise. Given they are more challenging to do, it doesn't feel great.
developer response: Congrats on beating the game in challenge mode! And haha yep, the new update added a TON of embers, enough to get all the stat upgrades and the relevant ascension upgrades. What you mentioned is pretty much the key to beating the original BIOTOMATA.
Fair criticism on the endings! Before the first "testing" launch I'd envisioned BIOTOMATA to be more of a "CYOA" type game where a player might go for one, two, maybe three endings (which is also why there weren't cheevos for endings in the first build), and the endings were pretty much a different flavor of , but upon testing I find that a surprising amount of users actually went ending hunting for all the endings, and there was definitely a "oh no the default playstyle is going to be the players replaying the endgame times, isn't it" moment lol. Sort of accepted the fact that this is how the game will be played, so following that the achievements and decimate updates got added (followed by the additional embers update) to hopefully help keep things smooth and interesting :P
Thank you for sticking through all of them still!!
241 total enemies taken out, but that's all 12 endings achieved with hardmode active!
I really really liked this, from theme, to UI, to progression! It felt a bit sluggish in a few spots, and I wish auto-decimate could be faster, but I really did enjoy this!
I would suggest using some CSS styling to disable selection for most of the page, I kept accidentally 'highlighting' the image of the zone I was in, but that's a fairly miner thing that's also pretty easy to fix
developer response: Thanks for playing and an extra congratulations for beating the game in challenge mode!
I'll admit, the auto-decimate was designed with the one-second exploration ticks as a precaution for misinterpreted bugs (?) (i.e. forgetting the toggle was on and going "help combat isnt working for earlier stages :(") lol. I have also considered disabling user-select since double clicking does have a tendency to highlight images, though it isn't entirely in-line with web accessibility standards, so I've read :')
That being said, I'll definitely keep your suggestions in mind, and possibly work on a toggle if other players echo the same sentiments! :D
why is there a hard mode when the default mode is no different from it whatsoever? both of them require you to do analysis and solve the puzzles for each combat and pick and use the right abilities with the right timing. neither is any different or easier/harder than the other whatsoever.
developer response: It's mostly the end-game that's affected. Based on initial playtesting, early game was reported to be pretty balanced, but when it came to the OG end-game (now "challenge mode") some people liked the extra puzzles whereas others found it too hard. So the endgame was rebalanced so players can choose between the ability to farm for more perk points or to stick with the OG puzzle-oriented balancing
@sharpnova
the hard mode only matters during endgame and changes that part of the game. everything else is completely the same
developer response: Yep, you're correct :D

Okay, got actually 100% the normal mode, with starting the new game in challenge mode on mobile. It took nearly 10 hours to get all endings, but for me, the true endings is (achievement name for ending): , , , and (had to rerun it). I really like the storyline (it is really good), and only this night, I realised that Dr. Astrid is a woman... like i don't mind, but that was a surprise for me.
Also, congrats on getting and surpassing 10k playhours on this game!
developer response: Awesome! I hope both challenge mode and mobile treat you well, though tbh early and mid-game should be identical in challenge mode, it's really the endgame ember cap that's the main differentiator. And ye, those are definitely what I'd consider the "good" endings :D
Also, woo! 10k hours! Kinda blows my mind, considering that's more than one whole year!!
This game blew me away. The pacing felt great from the early game all the way until the end. I put down my other games and videos just to solve the endings. A brilliant mix between puzzles, rpg, and incremental.
developer response: Woah, thank you so much for playing, and I'm happy to hear that the pacing has you engaged!! ^^
This is… my fourth comment. What am i going to say? Tell Daniel Hayes to grow a pair
developer response: welcome back to the comment section
amazing game, loved it
developer response: thank you for playing! :))
The game is addictive, but I have a few questions. First of all, I'm level 38, but 42/42 astral ambers. According to the nova chrystalis - LVL 30 +5, LVL 36 +1, LVL 37 +2, LVL 38 +3. 37 amber should be given for leveling up and 11 for nova chrystalis. The total should be (37+11) - 48? Or is there something I don't understand? And secondly, I still haven't discovered any endings, and to be honest, I don't understand how to do it :\
developer response: Hi, thanks for playing! Make sure you don't have challenge mode enabled, since that caps embers at 42. For the endings, you just have to beat the final boss of the . You can check achievements (little star icon on top right) for more hints!
anyways this was a great game! played the poop and vengance thingy and that game was great too( no spoliers for ending)
developer response: Thank you for playing both games!
