There's Nodebuster-likes and Nodebuster clones, this is unfortunately the latter. The side content is hit (equipment) and miss (quests), the elemental attacks are laughably weak to start, and it feels like the projectiles like to cause lag. There's a fair amount of content and a decent amount of variety in upgrades, it feels a little on the grindy side for me, but it's a serviceable game. I just wish the actual gameplay was more unique.

Not sure how to unlock town people. It says Condition not Met but I do not see what the condition is to meet?

developer response: you need to collect enough monster drops to upgrade the townsfolk (which is a new resource type that starts dropping after unlocking the town). It's a bit unclear in the way it's presented right now, i'll fix it in an upcoming patch.

Somehow one of my townspeople (Trev) got stuck on upgrading and I can no longer level them up. It remains even when reloading the browser.

developer response: I could not for the life of me recreate this bug. However I think i've fixed the issue regardless. Hopefully. If it's still there, please let me know

Auto-collect farm resource upgrade slows the game down. Had a little fun buying it and refunding it a few times to test this. I don't know why that would be, honestly? Unless it's collecting constantly, in which case an easy fix would be having it bulk collect once the resources are spent. (Although that might be a bit more awkward to work with for some people, maybe? Hard to say.)

developer response: incredible piece of feedback, because somehow you not only identified the issue correctly but also managed to track the root cause of the equipment bugs Neffdigity was facing too, thanks very much for sending the comments.

the issue was that it was cascading a series of updates across the other parts of the game, and isolating them fixed this.

I do seem to have enough of the monster drops. For Tall Bill it shows 5 slime balls, 4 goblin ears, and 3 mushrooms. I have 105, 177, and 128 of each respectively. Still says condition unmet.

yea my townspeople kept getting stuck in the upgrading thing so i cant upgrade them it takes up a upgrade slot and it stays after reload

developer response: i've uploaded a potential fix for this, please let me know if the issue persists

Damn, these are some needlessly discouraging comments. I really enjoyed it, progression felt faster than Nodebuster, and it's a bit more frantic, which gives it an identity. It's pretty resource heavy with all the enemies, drops and effects, so condensing some of that stuff would help and be more readable. Other than that, looking forward to the full release, it's great so far.

People should really stop saying about this being Nodebuster clone, because it isn't. Nodebuster wasn't even first game of its type. This game isn't too grindy, but it is short. And for once it is first itch.io game thats optimized, like seriously every game that posted from itch.io lags really bad with nothing happening on screen, this one only lags with maxed upgrades when collecting 200+ resources at once for few ticks (which got somewhat fixed with resources turning into bags). Talking about balance is pointless since game is still in the development

It's a fun game with quite a few mechanics to manage, but it still needs work. The main gameplay loop is too similar to any nodelike game out there, even with cool powerups (satisfying but bit too op) and elemental stuff (which is quite weak until later). Every monster while having different drops, is exactly the same in regards to behavior (as far as I could tell), which could add some minor variability. I did like the weird plot thing going on, but I think it's possible to make it be more relevant to the actual gameplay. I also liked painted background and the upside down secret. The merging animation can be wonky though, items flying around the screen. Overall, with enough polishing, this game could be even better.

I'll be working to improve the game further. And you've got me thinking about making the story and gameplay closer and more interactive, I believe it's a good suggestion.

I wish it was easier maxing out equipment because I'm constantly running out of space (post game, just grinding for fun). If there was more inventory space, or legendary items didn't take up inventory space once obtained, or you could consume like lower rarity items to just fill the progress bar by a smaller amount (i.e u could use a white to fill 1/9th or whatever of a blue so you don't need a whole lineup of them) or something it would be nice

developer response: - added more inventory space
- I think i'll add some sort of "equipment crystal" in a future update, that lets you upgrade any of your equipment. Either way, I agree with your thoughts on the equipment progress and it'll be improved in an upcoming patch
- legendary items not taking space is interesting, and may be included in the codex when it's added. Letting you. 1. reissue legendary items if you don't have it, and 2. providing some permanent boost when you first get an item to legendary

so after fully finishing this demo as in getting every upgrade maxed getting the best gear to max tier which i still dont know which is better the staff our Dimond sword and maxing out the farms i feel like i have the right to say that the game is somewhat fun and the only critique i have for it is that the towns people have a max level because after the glitch happened i just leveled up Compensator and Jim to level 50 and easily cleared stage 15. also ice feels a bit strong compared to everything else cause when i check the damage per minute it is totally eclipsing everything other damage type and bullet is to week i see bullet but i does the least compared to everything else.

There was a calculation bug with the ice, which made it seem much stronger than it actually was, fixed now. Projectiles have been buffed as well, but tbh are still a bit weak until a new system is added, at which point they'll start being pretty op.

So I played in one of the earlier updates and finished the game up to stage 10; however, now when I go back, I can progress into further stages. Wondering if there are any fixes?

I enjoyed this game. Very well thought out upgrade tree and always felt like the upgrades and my choices mattered. I can't wait to see what's next, keep up the good work!
