comments for Levels: An Incremental
sort: go backdeveloper response: pretty bad game for every other standard though 👍
developer response: Thanks for the feedback! I have updated the game accordingly
so i lost some of my upgrades but some i still have the effects of without the cost increase
great game though
developer response: I'll try to fix it soon as I'm on a break from school right now
Also thanks :)
Edit: It's fixed now
If you see this i want to say something important, if youre able to get this working youre game can get more professional,
try using turbowarp instead of scratch. turbowarp's sourcecode runs on javacode, that way its way faster
including some realy nice things like that turbowarp is compatable with scratch so you can upload projects from scratch to turbowarp and work on it.
also turbowarp has more helping extentions and features that make it make the game. i wont tell everything but when youre done finding out tell me if you like it or not
Kudos from me!
developer response: I'll try working on larger updates in Turbowarp, smaller ones can stay in Scratch because the project updates faster that way.
developer response: Will look into that
developer response: My bad, I forgot the epilepsy warning
Way too much clicking for very little reward. Progress feels extremely slow -- to the point where i wonder if some calculations might be off.
That being said, it does seem like a decent start. Ignore the people giving you bad ratings and take their reviews with a grain of salt if they can't be bothered to offer constructive feedback. Some areas I would focus on:
* Look at your calculations and double-check things. They might be where you intended them to be, and that's ok. But I'd hate for there to be a negative impression if the calculations weren't correct. I did notice things get vastly quicker after a prestige though. Still does feel a little too clicky for my liking -- that's just my preference and not a statement on the quality of the game itself.
* Try to work on explaining a little bit of what does what and what things stand for. What does "c" stand for? I assume that the number between the Lvl and the "c" number is XP, but you don't want to leave it to players to have to assume anything because they will most likely assume wrong since they aren't you.
* This is another personal preference, but the themes are way too brightly colored. Maybe have a theme that is a little more muted in tone.
I look forward to seeing more updates from you and how the game progresses!
developer response: Alright, I'll see what suggestions I can add in the future! I'll probably also buff early game idling since it does create a decently long timewall otherwise. Also, seeing that the numbers change upon clicking, one should be fairly quick to notice that the number between the Level and c is XP, and that c is currency gained for upgrades.
I also only put a notice for 1-star reviews since in my game statistics (which only I can see as a developer) I noticed that the most common rating was 1, which is why I'm asking for feedback to improve the game.

developer response: That happens when Scratch servers are down
developer response: True, I originally put the prestige upgrades in standard notation until 1e9 to be consistent with the original notation but in hindsight, I realized that it's kind of pointless with all the zeroes
developer response: I'm just removing the reset button tbh since you can just reload
The gameplay loop is satisfying, you upgrade buttons to boost your level -> get currency from leveling up -> upgrade to boost level. ||Prestige at level 50 is well-placed, not too grindy. ||
The UI detracts a little bit from the experience. Some better button design, some better scaling for the window (currently on android mobile browser), then it can really shine!
I think looping in some more mechanics, other than prestige, could be very fruitful! (For example generators that produce prestige, automation etc).
Unfortunately I ran into an issue.
Tabbing the browser and revisiting it wiped my progress.
Adding cookie based saving could smooth this out.
Otherwise, a very enjoyable experience :D
developer response: Thanks for all the feedback!
Currently, since this is coded in Scratch, I'm not really able to actually make autosave, and this also limits the dimensions of the play area to 480x360.
I'm also planning updates that will add new features so stay tuned for that :)
developer response: It's fixed now
developer response: Alright, I can remove the reset game button (you can reload without saving to reset) and also since Scratch is weird idk if offline earnings are possible
developer response: I'm learning a few other coding languages like python and html at the moment. Maybe I'll make a game outside of Scratch soon
developer response: Simplified notation is in the bottom right corner

developer response: I'll see what I can do about it (since the way I coded this makes it difficult to change)
Scientific notation starts at 1e9 if that helps
Edit: Added a simplified notation that takes effect on any dynamically changing text
