Farmhand
- After unlocking empowered hunger, you can no longer buy the two perks to the left of it in future rebirths without having any other perks in the tree
- The final perk tooltip now properly updates all of its values when ranked up
- Improved the wording of the Unskilled Labor achievement description to be a little clearer
- Golden Harvest and Burning the Midnight Oil cooldowns now properly carry over between rebirths and display correctly even if you don't have the skill learned yet
Squire
- If you are defeated by an enemy you have offline farm unlocked for, you are no longer knocked back a wave and remain where you are (this also applies to enemies prior to the one with offline farm unlocked)
- Fixed a graphical issue where the dungeon 3 bosses's special text effect would appear on other enemies
Researcher
- Epiphany cooldown now properly carries over after a rebirth and is displayed correctly even if you don't have the skill learned yet
Other Changes
- The "You're Pretty Basic" secret achievement logic has been improved if obtained post class swap
- Hard Reset and Show Map buttons are now disabled while offline progression calculations are happening
- If you load a game with an open story prompt, the prompt now properly closes

Farmhand
- Added two new stats to the stats tab: XP Per Farm Action and Gold Per Farm Action
- Changed all references to XP/Gold Per Click to XP/Gold Per Farm Action to be more accurate
- XP and Gold Per Click stats now factor in Farm Actions Per Click
- Autofarm speed is now counted in Total XP and Gold Per Second stats on the Class tab
Squire
- Web AFK Rewards now rewards squire enemy drops based on your rare drop chance (This is to make AFKing the browser more equivalent to the Windows version)
- If you have Class Swap unlocked and rebirth on the Researcher improving your Wisdom, the XP of the enemy you are fighting will automatically update (you used to need to cycle to a different enemy to see the change)
Researcher
- Researcher pages are now visible on both the Research and Publish tabs
- Pages are not longer rarely lost when pages are gained while submitting pages at the same time
Other Changes
- Perk trees for all three classes now have arrows showing what direction the perk progression is going
- Added version number to the Settings window
- Rebirth Stats on the Stats tabs are now in class order (Hardiness, Might, Wisdom)

A note on the Squire enemy XP buffs:
Might is supposed to be the tougher of the 3 rebirth stats to level up, but it is too tough right now. By buffing enemy XP drops in dungeon 3 and beyond, this will smooth out Might gain significantly, which in turn will make gaining pages on the Researcher a bit quicker as well. Because Might gain is getting a bit easier, I'm tuning down the Farmhand's XP Per Click stat slightly to compensate. Farmhand is already the fastest class to level, and with these new changes it will be even faster which is going to feel unbalanced.
Farmhand
- New Stat categories: Clicks and Autofarm, Passives, Sleep, Hunger
- Added Sleep Restored Per Second max stat calculation (above your max sleep, so you know how much max sleep you can obtain before moving to "2 ticks" of sleep recovery)
- Added Sleep Consumed Per Click stat (it's just half of your farm actions per click, but this currently isn't displayed anywhere)
- XP Per Click stats in perks reduced by about 20%
- Offline progression progress bar is now actually 100% done when it displays 100%
Squire
- New Stat categories: Damage, Defenses and Debuffs, Utility
- Added Thorns Crit Chance stat (shows your likelihood to crit with Thorns)
- Enemies in dungeon 3 and above have had their XP drops buffed significantly (At least double, in some cases much more than double)
- Gold cost of the book "That, But Do It Faster" has been reduced to 1qa gold (was 25qa gold before)
- If Brace for Impact is about to block an attack that does zero damage (ex: staggered enemy), then the brace buff will carry over to the next attack
- Updated the necrotic essence inventory tooltip to state that every 100 collected means necrotic power lasts for one less attack
- Enemy tooltip improvements (show both base and stat enhanced xp/gold drops as well as factor in rare drop bonus)
- Tis But A Flesh Wound achievement now rewards properly post Class Swap
- Exploit weakness damage no longer happens on the attack that causes the stagger, and instead happens during the stagger
- There is no longer a 1% chance that a regular attack can still cause corruption even if you have the item drops maxed
- Potent poison no longer continues even when the Squire is defeated
Researcher
- New Stat categories: Primary, Research Subjects
- Gold Per Second stat now shows its value both with and without its Wisdom bonus
- "Start New Edition" tooltip will now tell you how many pages in the total the next edition of the book will cost. No more guesswork!
- Random research compound buff now automatically ticks up during offline progression (and applies itself to the offline progression calculations)
- Compounding bonus is now factored into the Total XP Per Second stat
Other Changes
- Improved the wording of "Permanent perks require maxed prior perks to unlock" to "Permanent perks require all prior perks at max level to unlock"
- Improved the look and readability of the Hard Reset window
- Offline Progression calculation speed is now approximately twice as fast
- Rebirth UI now shows how much each stat will increase based on your rebirth stat gains
- Running the game in a non 16:9 aspect ratio should no longer cause some map icons to be a little off from where they should be (attempt #2!)
Fixes and Improvements Part 4 0.5.4 October 20, 2025
- Rebirthing now resets the text in the event log - this will resolve the lag that would happen when leaving the game on a really long time
- Reworded the "level cap reached, rebirth now!" message on the rebirth tab to "level capped: cannot gain more rebirth stats" to make it clearer that you cannot gain any more rebirth stats that particular run
- Tweaked the UI on the rebirth tab to take a little more advantage of screen real estate
- Enemies no longer apply corruption when they get staggered
- When random corruptions happen from regular attacks, they will now display the corruption graphic and sound effect
- Skill cooldowns now save when you exit the game (cooldowns are still reset if enough time has passed since you were offline - this is to discourage people rebooting their game over and over again to reset cooldowns)
- You can no longer get the Unskilled Labor achievement using perks via autospending through loadouts
- Web backup save files now properly save with the .save file extention (prior files still work though)
- Fixed an issue where Tis But A Flesh Wound wasn't triggering even if the Squire didn't have any Damage Reduction (having the permanent perk that gives you 20% DR doesn't count toward this achievement's criteria still)

- Researcher offline progression now factors in compounding stacks (based on the random research compounding stack value)
- Running the game in a non 16:9 aspect ratio no longer causes some map icons to be a little off from where they should be
- Skill cooldowns no longer get unintentionally reset when rebirthing a different class once class swap is unlocked
- The backup timer no longer restarts when you backup your save before the bonus is back
- Fixed an issue where rebirthing sometimes shuts off autofarm
- Fixed an issue where rebirthing during post battle recovery can lock out the dungeon select dropdown
- The Parry Swing and Don't Crit Yourself perks were moved lower in the perk tree so it's clearer that you need Autoskill: Brace for Impact in order to unlock Parry Swing

Fixes and Improvements 0.5.1 October 14, 2025
- HFI's UI will now scale up at resolutions above 1080p (this should resolve the small text issues that were reported by people using 4k monitors)
- The extra "tick" that was happening when sleep completely fills on Farmhand no longer happens
- Spamming the Buy All button really really fast no longer allows you to buy shop items you can't afford
- Research and You book now has a consistent tooltip for it's XP bonus
- The first hit an enemy does after the Squire auto advances now deals damage
- You are no longer able to change dungeons while in recovery (this was causing some issues)
- If you activate Spin Slash and are defeated before it goes off, Spin Slash is no longer carried over to the next enemy (this was also causing issues and didn't make a lot of sense)
Story prompts will no longer prevent you from closing other open windows/popups

New Evergreen Features
- Class Swap - Allows all classes to be running at once, with the ability to hot swap between them. This also means that rebirthing only rebirths the currently active class, and the other classes see the immediate benefit of improved rebirth stats without having to rebirth themselves! This feature is unlocked through new Researcher content.
- Multi-point Perks - Most perks have been changed to allow you add multiple points to them. This allows you to both reach further perks in the tree sooner, and allows for a great deal of additional build diversity. Each point you add to a perk also gives a bonus! Permanent perks work they same way they used to and skill perks / skill rank up perks still require the full investment of perk points all at once.
- Perk Loadouts - This feature allows you to save up to 3 perk builds for each class. Not only does it save your build for future runs, but the autospend feature allows you to automatically spend your perk points as you level up based on your saved build. Convenient! This feature is unlocked through new Researcher content.
- Game Profile - The achievements menu has evolved! The profile page shows everything you can possibly collect and unlock in the game, sorted by categories. All of these new things being tracked** fill the ultimate progress bar at the top of the profile page**. If you get 100%, you get a shiny gold star - neat!
- Inventory - The inventory shows key items and additional lore about items you have found through your travels. If you're looking for extra HFI lore, this is the place for you!
Farmhand
- Content has been updated to level 80 - this includes perks, shop items, story, etc.
- XP buff from Wisdom now rewards a bonus sooner, but scales slower
- HFI now remembers if you had autofarm going when you rebirth and when you reboot the game
Squire
- Content has been updated to level 80 - this includes perks, shop items, story, dungeons, etc.
- XP buff from Wisdom now rewards a bonus sooner, but scales slower
- Base Squire Min/Max Damage increased to 4-6 damage (was 2-4)
- Defense has been reworked into a new stat called Damage Reduction (Damage Reduction simply reduces the damage the Squire takes by a percentage)
- Brace for Impact simply doubles your Damage Reduction when used, and now costs 15% Stamina at Rank 2 (up from 10%)
- When autoskill is on for Brace for Impact, it no longer disables the button (in case you want to use it on non-special attacks)
- Thorns damage is now based on both how many points you have in Armor of Thorns, and how much Damage Reduction you have (This means Brace for Impact doubles thorns damage!)
- A Thorns Damage stat now appears in the stat tab, showing how much thorns damage you are doing
- When you defeat the final enemy, a message appears letting you know that you have completed the demo. (You are free to continue playing if you want to max things out!)
- HFI now remembers your autoskill and auto advance checkbox selections between rebirths and reloading the game
Researcher
- Balance of rebirth stats was changed in a major way. Now that Researcher is on par with content with the other classes, it no longer needs the huge rebirth stat boosts it used to get
- XP bonus gained from Hardiness is removed
- Base XP Per Research and sources of this stat have been buffed significantly to compensate for the above.
- Hardiness scaling for focus drain reduction has been reduced
- Might scaling for page gain has been reduced
- The Gold Per Second rebirth stat bonus has been moved from Might to Wisdom
- Content has been updated to level 80 - this includes perks, shop items, story, books, research subject, etc.
- Epiphany now has a 1 min cooldown and gives 200 secs of pages instantly (rank 2 is 400 secs) - tooltip was updated with this info as well
- Professional Development rank 1 now awards 3x XP (down from 5x), but only reduces pages gain by 50%. Rank 2 brings the XP bonus back up to 5x
- Books are no longer reset on rebirth. You now decide when to reset them by clicking the Start New Edition button. This allows you to publish multiple editions of a book in one run, and allows you to decide when you want to forego your gold bonus to get a new edition upgrade
- Now starts with 1 Gold Per Second
- Added base Pages Per Research to each subject in the stats tab (Base Pages | Boosted Pages)
- HFI now remembers your selected researches between rebirths and reloading the game
Quality of Life and Other
- Shop items that are not affordable yet have their Buy button disabled
- Save files can now be loaded in the browser version of HFI. Woo hoo! - Save file name now has a timestamp when performing a backup
- In game links to the HFI Discord and Steam page!
- Added 40 new achievements and achievement ranks, including new secrets!
- Improved Controller Support (still consider this in beta)
- Updated resolution options to work better with different sizes
- Backup bonus timer reduced to 23 hours (was 24 hours; now there's a little bit of padding to get your daily bonus)
- Offline progression now shows progress bars and no longer freezes the game for a few seconds while it is calculating
- Is This A Clicker? achievement criteria for rank 4 now only requires 30,000 clicks, down from 100,000
