description

The Board is Yours is a strategic chess-based incremental game: buy squares, unlock upgrades, and chain synergies through defended pieces. It plays as a demanding idle game where you’ll constantly reposition pieces and optimize your production until the board belongs to you.

generative ai disclosure

I translated the game with online tools to support other languages than English and French. These tools now all have Gen AI in them. I'm definitely open to criticism for the localization if anything weird appear in your native language, don't hesitate!

Draelent Demo V1.08 February 3, 2026

Version Demo 1.08 fixed the variety of bugs with the tutorials keeping the game stuck and the freezes! I hope I’ll not discover new bugs now, because that was very complex to reproduce… Please, for those who had a poor experience due to the freeze, don't hesitate to retry, and let me know if you still manage to break it, or if you managed to finish the demo instead!

There is a 3rd secret now in the game, you can press a specific key of your keyboard to change the color of the board…

Coming back to this after getting the Steam version (only two bucks! what a deal!) I am struck by how handcrafted this feels, among the tide of AI and copies. Kudos to the dev!

developer response: Thank you so much! I missed this comment when you wrote it, but it feels really good to read! It was indeed an (extremely) complex journey of crafting, so I was really hoping it would resonate with at least a few people, looking for an incremental with deeper challenges especially.. I'm happy to see that in that regard it seems to be a success! Thank you for the support, I really appreciate

i love the rice thing, it's funny how you integrated that into this game

This is easily one of the best incremental games I've played in a long while. The optimization challenge is often incredibly difficult, but once you stumble on an optimal solution it immediately clicks as to why it's the best. I can't wait to see more of it!

developer response: Just wanted to say that you have no idea how impactful your comment was, and how it helped me in the process of finishing this game properly (you were on my wallpaper together with a few other comments here). Thank you so much.

Given x rice on an otherwise new save file on a modded version of this game with an infinite chessboard, what is the maximum possible production per cycle without a single cycle happening?

Cycle speed decreases in cost instead of rising so you but the most expensive one first then it slowly gets less expensive

i like the tradeoff between trying to optimize my layout and just collecting the best i have so far. the visual design is super appealing and the interface generally makes sense. the amount of information feels about right. the distinction between "defending" vs "controlling" a square was obscure, and i'm still not sure i get it fully. rooks and bishops are blocked by other pieces, which i had to figure out through trial and error. also i would appreciate a confirmation prompt before meta-analysis. overall i liked it a lot though!

Fantastic demo! Perfect optimization element without making it too stressful like "OMG how do I make this board perfect?!?!" Hope more content gets added :)

developer response: Thank you! Yes it will, the whole game is pretty much finished with the whole prestige tree that is currently locked. It will be released in the upcoming months.

This is an amazing concept for a game, I'm not really great at chess myself, but this is a great game anyway, mainly because I get to watch numbers go up.

Can you make it so where we can clear the board of pieces? It'd be way easier to come up with a good strategy to max the rice

I would love to see what setups people have come up with
