QOL Change #4 V1.10.7 December 6, 2024

There are 4 3 choice upgrades for steel now.
Changed the upgrade order for steel to fit the 2 removed upgrades.
Removed the grinded upgrade, and set the cost of the 2nd compost buyable unlock to 25.

There's too much resetting, not enough automation or locking of the milestones/upgrades in the later layers. I've got four upgrades and one buyable in the 5th tier, and none of them lock milestones or keep upgrades of any previous tiers, so it just becomes boring and tedious having to go through everything over and over and over.

i'm on the slate layer, everything seems to just be "double this resource gain". quite generic but the pacing is alright

So now that None is removed, those of us who had picked it are now without a Steel choice. Also, Magnetic Dirt I doesn't seem to be adding any new upgrades, since I somehow have that now.

developer response: It got replaced that's probably why you have magnetic dirt, also the new upgrades are after the final dirt upgrade.

The "None" choice upgrade in Steel is a bad move. It doesn't give any bonuses, and it unlocks something you don't have access to for a long time. This shouldn't be a part of the choices there. I don't even know where Compost is, so that option shouldn't be available if I haven't even touched it.

developer response: Yeah, that makes sense, I will get rid of the "None" upgrade. Edit: Check changelogs (galaxy one not in-game)

No no, don't make a way for glass to not be reset by challenges later in the game. It shouldn't be reset by challenges. Within the challenge is okay. When you exit, you should be getting glass back.

developer response: Fair point, I'm gonna make the glass milestone effect disabled during challenges, so you keep the glass after. Edit: fixed!

Interesting to have independent reset layers going, but needs automation sooner. With how quick lower resources grow, not having buy max on slate and glass just makes it a clicky chore.

developer response: Thanks for the idea! I'm adding buy max on slate as a new reward for Iron challenge 1. I haven't decided where to put glass buy max, so I will deal with that later.

whats the point of glass milestones if they get reset after every challenge?

developer response: They don't get reset anymore!

This was quite fun. I really enjoy that you have a rough sense of how long it will take you to reach a certain point. Like if you need 20 coal, it's not some unknowable thing that might take the age of the universe if you haven't met every prerequisite. I especially liked that it often felt like there were many paths to reach a goal. You could sometimes skip side upgrades and just grind the direct path. That said, I did reach a point right around steel where I got tired of grinding the same thing for the fifth or sixth time to get some automation going and decided to call it for now.
